Before Paris Hilton became super famous from The Simple Life, her mom, Kathy Hilton, warned her about the ups and downs of Hollywood.

At Los Angeles Magazine's L.A. Woman Luncheon on Friday, April 18, at The Beverly Hilton, 44-year-old Paris was honored as Woman of the Year for her leadership and help after the Palisades Fire.

Paris thanked her mom, 66, and her grandmother for helping shape who she is today. She also shared the advice her mom, Kathy, gave her the night before The Simple Life first aired in 2003.

Paris said, "My mom told me, 'Paris, the show comes out on Fox tomorrow, and your life is going to change forever. But I always want you to stay the same sweet and down-to-earth girl you are. Don’t ever forget that."

She said, "I've lived in this town for a long time, so I've seen a lot, including how fame can go to people's heads, and I never want to be like that. I'm very thankful to have great parents who raised me to be who I am today."
